Late today the Clark County Elections Department put out a
press release stating they would review 28 ballots on Tuesday.
Twenty-four of those ballots are supposedly from Rossi voters.
More below the fold.
Clark County canvassers to review absentee ballots
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Think the Washington governor's race is finally over? Think again.
Just across the border from Portland, in Clark County, election officials will meet Tuesday about more than two-dozen absentee ballots.
Washington's state elections director has said counties should not review any more votes.
But the Clark County canvassing board says it will take another look at 28 ballots that were previously discarded.
Clark County auditor Greg Kimsey says signatures of some voters were missing on ballot envelopes.
Signatures on other ballots did not match those on record.
Kimsey says 24 of the 28 ballots are from people who say they voted for Republican Dino Rossi.
The other four are from supporters of Democrat Christine Gregoire. Gregoire won a statewide hand recount by 130 votes.
That recount is to be certified Thursday by the Secretary of State.
Given that Secretary of State Sam Reed, a Republican, has said that counties cannot do this, Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey appears to be skating on thin ice.
The Clark County Canvassing Board is composed of Kimsey, a Republican, and two Democrats: Prosecutor Art Curtis and County Commissioner Betty Sue Morris.
Up until this point the process in Clark County has been pretty low-key, and people from both parties have applauded how well things have gone.
It would be speculative to say why Kimsey has made this decision, and there is not a whole lot in the media about this yet. It is, however, a disturbing sign that the Vance machine is up to no good.
The Clark County Elections Department press release (see link above fold) offers no explanation as to why this is happening. But the decision came seemingly without warning and with little media attention.
