I'm checking out until after the New Year. I'm going to go spend some time with my wife and kids, some old friends and some new.
But, I wanted to say HAPPY NEW YEAR!
2004 is almost gone...thank God. It was a strange, wild, and emotional year.
2004 certainly brought us some tough times:
1. Reelection of GWB
2. Deterioration of conditions in Iraq
3. Losing friends family in Iraq
4. GWB policies alienated us from the
Islamic World
5. GWB alienating us from the rest of the
World
6. Hurricanes in Florida
7. Tsunami disaster
8. MSM thinking that reciting GOP talking
points is fair/balanced
9. Rich got richer and the poor got poorer
BUT......
2004 brought along some hope and sun through some of the dark times:
1. Democrats mobilized to win and got
excited about politics again
2. Dems matched GOP donations dollar for
dollar
3. Move On, Michael Moore, ACT gave some of
the apathetic a kick in the ass
4. Daily Kos erupted and provided a
lighthouse in the fog for a lot of us
5. We might get some kick ass new
leadership at the DNC
6. Howard Dean went up, went down, and
looks like he is climbing again baby
7. We're already focusing on 2006 and 2008
It has been a wild year. I think we have all experienced an incredible emotional roller coaster with the buildup to the election, the prospect of winning and then the utter defeat we felt with the loss. But, we're still here, organized and determined to continue to expose and hopefully reverse the awful policies of this administration.
So, to all of you, I say Happy New Year and thanks for this wonderful exchange of ideas here at DailyKos.
