2004, just a month or so out from the election and before the electoral college meets, one of the main 2004 Bush campaign themes has been abandoned. 'Don't change horses in midstream during a war' has gone the way of the Dodo. With the turnover in cabinet positions, we have to wonder exactly what is still the same, except perhaps Donald Rumsfeld, and he was doing such a stellar job.
Where is the continuity that was so important in the war on terror? Resignations of the Attorney General, the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Health and Human Services (who warned of attacks on our food supply on his way out), and the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security should usher in changes in the War on Terror. We also get a new National Security advisor as the old one moves to take the reins of the State Department, not to mention resignations of other Secretaries including Commerce, Education, Agriculture, and Energy. Now we will have all new people to "STAY THE COURSE".
In 2000 we had 'restoring honor and dignity'. Two days in, Ari Fleischer was out making false claims about the outgoing Clinton administration to blow that one out of the water. It was down hill from there on the honor and dignity front.
