I happened to be home this morning and I got a call from someone identifying himself as a pollster for a national republican organization. I found this highly surprising. Being an Illinios voter of 20 years, my impeccable Democratic primary voting records are openly available. As a resident of the resolutely progressive village of Oak Park, they had to know that there was no way that I would be caught dead casting a ballot for the lesser George Bush. Before I could help myself, I snapped, "Boy, do you have the wrong household!" and slammed the phone down with extreme pleasure.
Like so many things in life, the pleasure was all too fleeting.
It occured to me that the call may have been a 'push-poll'. It was truly frightening to think that this would-be president has so much money that he can afford to call me. I should have stayed on the line to get some idea of what they were trying to do.
Don't make my mistake! If you get one of these calls, avoid the urge to slam! Lead the tele-mercinary through the call and share your inteligence here and on any other blog you follow. This is one way the power of the blog may really check George's ill-gotten millions.
