Right now what Kerry needs is to think a little bit out of the box. Hard for a career criminal that has lined his pockets with taxpayer money, but, that is what the DLC and DNC have stuck us with; And, since the "Democrats" in congress are too weak kneed to get Impeachment underway for Bush and/or Cheney we may have no choice to get Bush out but polishing the turd that is John Kerry. How to best do this?
I would suggest telling the truth about Peak Oil and Natural Gas: If you are one of those who still hasn't figured out that these darn terrorists keep doing us a favor by hiding in places where there is either oil, dope or natural gas, or a pipeline route for one of the above or all three, then, you are going to have a hard time understanding US foreign policy i.e. World War and what it means for you, your parents and kids. No matter, just know this: The reasons for war were fabricated and or staged, be it Iraq, Afghanistan, The Balkans or 9-11. If you do not agree you are not at fault. You are among the majority still clinging to a shred of hope that we have a legitimate government and a free press. I admire your stamina. It speaks volumes about the really fine, loving and trusting people of this country. That is why we can't make time against Bush. We need to challenge him on the big lie. Kerry can't do this.
Kerry isn't electable. We need very simply to take Kerry out of the equation. What we need to do is dictate the issues in this race. Keep it nice and simple and show people the stats, the very scary stats, about the future of fossil fuel and what this means, the debt, the deficit, the falling dollar, the Euro, the end of dollar hegemony and what this means, black box voting and gerrymandering, the missing 2.3 trillion from the DOD and HUD and what this means.
End the muckraking and use the time we buy to not show a "failed leader" but, the very real and scary issues being decided in this historic election.
I would suggest making these short spots hard hitting and informative and not mentioning Kerry or Bush. Take a page out of Dragnet "just the facts, Ma'am. Use hard images of a scary future built on the failed policies of Bush and the current World War. Get people to start asking the hard questions.
This is fundamental because the questions they have now are who is John Kerry, and, what does that mean for my wallet. The answer is not inspiring confidence in voters, arguing about policy is irrelevant when the data people are basing their decisions on are based on phony numbers, false assumptions, or Rovian smears. Even with these Clarke revelations, the polls haven't swung too much in Kerry's favor. They won't till we dictate this campaign.
The Rove strategy is muckrake, attack, pre emptive strikes agaist the man. Take Kerry away and only deal with issues, then, when people are concerned and asking the right questions, there will be will for change. A need for positive answers and Kerry can come out and play the part of the pragmatist, the voice of reason. This is basic sales/marketing 101, create a need. Right now we just do not need Kerry, although we married him. OK it was a shotgun wedding.
Give Bush the rope right now to hang himself by working through the guys and gals we have in congress to keep the pressure for answers on Iraq, 9-11 intelligence and the economy.
Take the necessary first step and focus on getting public will for change based on the real issues of our times, and, then solve the confusion and fear with a message of hope, community, placed based economics, bartering our intellectual property: teachers, doctors, engineers etc. to solve real problems for developing nations in exchange for the natural resources they possess: a good neighbor foreign policy, cultural exchange, education, health care and investment in infrastructure, here, there and everywhere we will need as the age of fossil fuels fades.
That is how we can save this campaign!
