The former
World Death Report will now be known as the
World Unrest Report and will focus not just on deaths but also mass protests, civil disturbances and other large scale, societal events. Think of it as a form of mapping global instability.

Soundbyte of the Day:
One of Sadr's aides read a message from him to supporters in the Shrine of Ali, in Najaf, one of the holiest places in Shi'ite Islam.
"I address my enemy Bush," it said. "You are now fighting an entire nation, from south to north, from east to west, and we advise you to withdraw from Iraq. I call on America not to confront the Iraqi revolution."
Millions of pilgrims are converging on Najaf and Karbala for the Shi'ite festival of Arba'een, rendering any offensive to retake the cities effectively impossible.
Note: US deaths, whether soldiers, mercenaries or civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan or in the United States are not listed here because news coverage of these events is more than adequate elsewhere.
This is about raising awareness (click a link and find out what's going on out there).
May everyone rest in peace tonight
