This is an interesting sign I saw yesterday that I wanted to share - this person has been using their fence, located at one corner of a busy intersection, as an anti-Iraq war billboard since 2002 or so.
I'm assuming the sign is about Iraq simply because of the history, but now that I look at it, it could be a more profound statement about conflict in general.
I think it's great that someone's using their space as a personal billboard in this way - the only beef I have with them is that their signs always, always seem to be in the form of a rhetorical question, and I really hate that. Occasionally "sign trolls" come by and paint the right-wing answer to their question with a spray can and it really points out the weakness of the rhetorical question in today's political climate. After the fall of Baghdad, the sign said "ARE WE SAFER NOW?" and it took all of a minute for someone to paint in a big YES. So folks, if you're designing a bumper sticker or yard sign or protest banner, remember: no question marks. Make statements.
