We're in yet another round of right-wing media purging. The right did it to radio, TV, and newspapers, firing salvos from protected "opinion" outlets like Rush, WaPo and NYT Op-ed, without having to be held accountable for their own BS, and now the right-wing bloggers are starting their campaign to "santize" the blogosphere. They like that word santize..."bomb 'em all and let God sort them out", anyone?
It's sad that they have the weight to affect people's speech the way they do, without being elected, appointed, or even earning the right to open their mouths for a second. The Chickenhawk Brigade has spent years squawking at those who disagree, finding the memes that work for the lead-poisoned rubes, and hammering and hammering at those memes. Even though, to the rest of the world, and indeed history, we're a liberal democracy (or were, before this right-wing putsch seems to have succeeded), they've managed to take our proudest invention, our greatest contribution to the world and human dignity, Liberalism, and turn it into an epithet, the foulest of insults. It's like the world is warped.
That the online version of the weaselly right is managing to score blows on people like Kos, who actually give a damn about humanity, and continue to spread their bilious lies and mock the honorable dead of our real military, makes me want to vomit. The real conservatives need to stand up and say this is bullshit, this is wrong. What happened to the famous integrity of the conservative movement? IT IS DEAD. The soul of the conservative movement lies in the black core of Karen Hughes, in the drug-addled bloated gut of Rush Limbaugh. They've traded credibillity for a bullhorn, they've traded any claim to speak for the common man for the ability to inflame with prejudice.
The Party of Lincoln is dead, they just don't know it yet. The black cancer that the neocon movement represents is killing them. They are an aggressive blight, and it will not roll over and die of it's own accord. I just hope we can excise them in time, before they take the amazing, awe-inspiring democracy so many have struggled, fought and died for with them.
Whoa, that was a lot of talkin'
