It's common knowledge these days that the official religion of Saudi Arabia, Wahabian Sunni Islam, is at the heart of the jihadi terrorist phenominon. Why doesn't America do something about its 'ally's' spread of hatred and violence against the West?
Most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi. The money which funds al Qaeda comes mostly from Saudi sources. Saudi financed madrasas around the world indoctrinate children with hatred and intolerance. The Taliban were trained in Saudi madrasas inside Pakistan.<p.>
The heart of 'global terrorism' beats in Riyad. So why don't we nuke the bastards?
Of course, I'm being figurative - mostly. But if one place in the Middle East needs a regime change, it is Saudi Arabia. Yet our foreign policy is so deferential toward the Saudis, one could fairly call it obsequious. We know that the Saudi royals are balanced on a knife point, poised uncomfortably between a powerful Wahabi priesthood, international oil prices, a growing population with rising expectations and plunging standards of living, a voracious and parasitic extended royal family, and an envious pack of neighboring nations.
Surely, if we are going to invest in toppling a government and building democratic institutions, the best place to invest is Saudi Arabia? So, what direction should our policy toward the Saudis take under John Kerry? He has yet to outline a foriegn policy toward the Saudis, which presents a strong likelihood of more of the same. What do dKosers think America should do about the Saudis? Take the poll. If you need to elaborate, or have a different option, post a comment.
