Janis Karpinski is still out there, telling her side of the story. Yesterday she
told the BBC that Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Miller, who used to be the commanding officer at Gitmo and is now in charge of Iraqi prisons, told her that prisoners
are like dogs, and if you allow them to believe at any point that they are more than a dog then you've lost control of them.
(Don't forget that at least 80% of the Iraqis the US is holding prisoner were picked up in random sweeps, and are completely innocent of anything.) One might think that this suggests that Miller is a racist, but this is probably how American prison authorities think of prisoners here at home, too.
