Ernie Fletcher, whom most of you will know as the guy who buzzed the Capitol just prior to the Reagan memorial service, was vacationing in Florida Wednesday when Kentucky Sen. Herron died, but still allegedly signed an order to hold an election to replace the Dem on July 27. Why not just in November? Good question. Why sign it before Herron was buried? Good question. Why such a short time frame (42 days) between death and election? Another good one, particularly since those days are during the vacation belt.
Fletcher is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitch McConnell, who purchased Ern from Tom DeLay in order to run him for governor on the flimsy grounds that Ben Chandler was exercising corruption in government when he followed court instructions to set up a medical trust fund after he successfully sued Blue Cross on behalf of the state. (Convoluted sentence, I know.)
