From Dennis Jett's article "Operation Enduring Fog" at
Salon:
The Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq has an office of "strategic communications" with a staff of about 80. A full 95 percent of them are dedicated solely to generating stories in the American media, particularly small local television stations. Many of them are Republican political operatives and campaign staffers who are being paid huge salaries to protect the American public from the reality of Iraq.
Hardly surprising, but when our troops are just now getting crucial body armor, doesn't the idea of our taxes going to fund administration propaganda seem even more obscene? It's certainly inappropriate, and depending on the language in the funding bills, perhaps even illegal.
