For the life of me (literally, these days,I guess) I don't understand how they can possibly want/dream/aspire to the things they do.
Example: Bruce Bartlett writing in the Grey Lady lists their heaven...
"Especially after the Republicans won control of Congress in 1994, we all dreamed of the paradise that would be ours if we could just get a Republican in the White House. We could fix the budget and the tax system, rein in the bureaucracy, neuter the trade unions and trial lawyers, and do all those other things that could never be done because Democrats were always blocking the way."
Neuter the unions. Seriously, what have they got against collective bargaining? Do they really want a world of serfs, toiling away for hamburger helper, while the corps. post record profits & swap this n that on the NYSE? Is that a "good" "desirable" thing in their eyes?
I find it hard to believe. Honestly. Do they really think ignorance poverty deprivation and rage are productive? Entrepreneurial? Democratic?
I wish somebody would explain it to me. I'm not naive or dumb. But every so often, something like this op-ed comes along that makes me drop my standard flash reaction of leftie scorn and bile and wonder. Do they really think 'more for me and fuck you' ??? I drink my fill at the top of the trickle and you drink your own sweat?
Seriously (for the 3rd time) setting aside the standard quips and raw emotion, what are they thinking? Are they blind? Deluded? Or just monstrous?
