Although it's probably too early to really focus on this much with the election races going on, I think there's something that we should include as part of the focus of what we fight against -- the media.
We always hear the right complaining about "the liberal media" and people on the left complain about the "pro establishment media" but neither accurately address the problem. The problem is that they are out to take our money in the most efficient way possible, and that comes from disinformation and fear. That's why the "Dean scream" was such a big deal when the actual video was nothing more than a pep rally. That's why Kerry is portrayed as a flip flopper while Bush is not. That's why they are not asking the hard questions about stupidity in our government. Terrorism benefits the media more than even the defense industry. They all spooged themselves after 9/11, because they knew that they had a captive audience, and that the only thing they needed to feed us to keep us watching was more fear.
So while it's important to get rid of Bush, I think we also need to spend some time on debunking and deflating the media. The nature of this battle will be different than the one we have now, because it's more non-partisan in nature. If we want to change America, we have to change the sources of information that most people depend on. We have to work to get those groups to not be able to take advantage of us. We have to work to build alternative news sources with more credibility. It's not an easy thing to do, nor is it something that most people will understand at first. Still, it has to be done. Our culture of fear, perpetrated by the media and the government, has to be addressed.
