Republican deception in Florida is now aimed at black voters. From guardian.co.uk--
A wealthy white Republican contributor is funding adverts on black radio stations in important battleground states denouncing the Democratic presidential challenger, John Kerry, as "rich, white and wishy-washy".
The adverts also ridicule Mr Kerry's wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, for boasting of her African roots. She was born and raised in Mozambique under colonial Portuguese rule.
In another, Mr Kerry is criticised for not voting on a bill to extend unemployment benefits, because he was campaigning.
I hope the Kerry Rapid Response Team reads the Guardian and deals with this
fast. We need to hit 'em back hard, like Clinton would!
George W. Bush is rich, white, and won't do anything to help ordinary people.
The fact is, J. Patrick Rooney, who bought the ads, made his money on medical insurance but George W. Bush has spent 4 years doing nothing to help ordinary Americans afford health insurance. How many black Americans go without health insurance, and J. Patrick Rooney has the gall to say Kerry is taking black voters for granted? A Kerry administration would help 20 million more Americans white AND black get the medical insurance they need.
And as for J. Patrick Rooney saying that Teresa Heinz Kerry can't say she's from Africa because she's got white skin--that fool must think everybody in Africa is the same color. Rooney probably thinks Colin Powell's not American because he's got black skin. It's the sort of logic you'd expect from someone foolish enough to spend thousands of dollars to broadcast this nonsense.
