A document uncovered by the New York Times today has raised questions about the extent of connections between the Bush/Cheney campaign and the group calling itself Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, responsible for a series of ads questioning John Kerry's service in Vietnam. A picture of the document appears below.
Bush campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt dismissed its relevance. "This shows nothing," Schmidt said. "This is John Kerry's feeble attempt to divert the public from real questions, like what strings he pulled to get that cushy spot patrolling the Mekong Delta in a tiny boat surrounded by sniper fire on the front lines of an unpopular war, while the President was back home keeping America safe."
