Today is Election Day in Missouri and early numbers are showing voter turnout to be very high
the Hate amendment (constitutional amendment banning gay marriage) is on the ballot. I'm suspecting it will pass, but not by the landslide that most are expecting.
There are 2 Dem primary races with major implications. Gov Bob Holden is facing a strong challenge from State Auditor Claire McCaskill. Conventional wisdom is that McCaskill has a much better chance to defeat Matt Blunt in November. The momentum seems to have tilted for McCaskill in the last month and I expect her to win.
In the 3rd US congressional district the battle for Gephardt's old seat is wide open. If Jeff Smith comes out on top it would be a huge victory for the progressive netroots movement.
