If an elementary school student wrote a letter to the editor of the "West Dog Pile Tribune", and if it got published, we may rest assured that some member of the Republican Party would blame it on the machinations of George Soros.
Frankly, I'm getting tired of Mr. Soros getting all the publicity. I think it's high time Richard Scaife's name got attached to every complaint from the Democratic leadership. Here's the item from the MSNBC story that set me off:
Responding specifically to Shays' remarks later, Allen added that DeLay's "effective leadership has helped to build and maintain the Republican majority in the House and that's exactly why liberal groups funded by George Soros have set their sights on him."
MSNBC
MediaTranparency provided the information on Scaife's activities and donations. This isn't news on this site, but a reminder of the sheer volume of Scaife's funding might serve to encourage Democrats to attach Scaife's name to every form of right wing manipulation of policy and publicity.
Richard Scaife: The Scaife Foundations are financed by Mellon Industrial which at one point was the largest stockholder in the Gulf Oil Corporation. Richard Scaife controls the Scaife, Carthage, and Allegheny Foundations.

Remember who started the abusive tone of Republican propaganda? From Al Franken:
1981 when Scaife verbally assaulted a reporter. When the reporter, Karen Rothmeyer of the Columbia Journalism Review, asked Scaife about his funding of conservative groups, he replied, "You fucking communist cunt, get out of here." Franken writes that Scaife "went on to tell her that she was ugly and that her teeth were 'terrible.' Of Ms. Rothmeyer's mother, who was not present, he said, 'She's ugly, too.' Sensing that it was time to wrap up the interview, Ms. Rothmeyer thanked Scaife for his time. He bade her farewell with a cheery 'Don't look behind you.'"

When will Democrats learn to put phrases together like?...
- "...that's just what you would expect to hear from a Scaife funded institute..."
- "...considering the report was funded by a Scaife foundation organization..."
- "...that's why radical right wing groups funded by Richard Scaife have set their sites on..."
