In the grand scheme of things, this sort of stuff probably doesn't matter, but I just finished reading this
article on Yahoo:
Headline: Lawmakers Target Bush Administration Over Iraq
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Lawmakers blasted the Bush administration Wednesday for its handling of the war in Iraq and said they were confounded only a fraction of $18.4 billion in U.S. rebuilding funds had been spent."
More after the split.
The article continues:
In an unusually nonpartisan hearing, Republican and Democratic senators urged senior State Department officials to try harder to speed up the reconstruction program, which lawmakers said could lead to a more stable environment in Iraq.
They also told officials to be more honest in their assessments of what was going on, with Indiana Republican Sen. Dick Lugar taking aim at what he called the "dancing in the street crowd," who painted an overly positive picture.
"The nonsense of all of that is apparent. The lack of planning (for Iraq) is apparent," said Lugar, chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
Anyway, you get the picture. Republicans and Democrats in the Senate, holding hands and pretty much calling the Bush administration negligent morons. This is the kind of thing I like to use as a bedtime story.
But then I get to the bottom of the article, and I see what others have rated it.
1.53. 1.53? Damn freepers. They're worse than roaches.
Look, I know it probably doesn't matter. But I'm getting sick of this Freep Task Force going around and screwing up ratings on stories like this because they're anti-Bush. This one is non-partisan, for crying out loud.
Higher-rated stories get more play on Yahoo. That's how it works. Maybe we need a task force of our own to hammer Yahoo like nuts, driving up the ratings on both pro-Kerry and anti-Bush (or anti-Coburn) articles. I'd be all for that. But for now, can you please spare a moment to head on over to Yahoo, outfreep the freepers, and rate this story a 5? It'll take you like two seconds.
