Our soldiers are not dying, nor have they ever died, so that we can write
discrimination into our Constitution at home.
As a supporter of the Iraq war, you should at the very least realize that
many of the young men and women fighting bravely in Iraq today are gay and
lesbian. Your support of this amendment is an insult to their valor and a
slap in the face to their convictions.
Ask yourself what you have sacrificed. Have you put your life on the line
for your country? Have your children? Have your closest friends put
their lives on the line? Have any of their children? What have you
sacrificed that gives you the moral authority to declare that people
sacrificing everything for their country should have fewer rights when
they return?
Please reconsider.
