Being New Yorker, I am no fan of George Pataki. I'll admit his brand of republicanism is a far better alternative than his neocon or religious right counterparts. If the republican party is to remain viable in the next 10 to 15 years, the moderates need to regain control. Pataki will not be a part of that, however. Last month when he whored for Bush at the RNC, he essentially
lost any chance for continued support in this state.
ALBANY - Gov. Pataki may want to consider another line of work in 2006, a new poll released yesterday shows.
Only a little more than one-third of voters - 36% - want the Republican governor to seek a fourth term in Albany in 2006, the Marist College poll shows.
While GOP insiders say that what Pataki really wants to do is run for President in 2008, only 25% of the New Yorkers surveyed thought that was a good idea.
And if he's thinking of taking on Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) for her seat, he's got work to do. In a hypothetical match-up, Pataki trailed Clinton, 53% to 44%.

His numbers were low before the RNC, so as much as I would like to believe it, his suffering is not all due to his sell out performance. But that will ensure his fate, IMO.
