In light of two recent Daily Kos stories (
1,
2) placing Kossacks firmly in the vanguard of Open Source technology, I'm curious if others have the same problems I do accessing the
DNC website with the Mozilla project's
Firefox browser.
I've tried Firefox 1.0 and 1.0.1 from Windows 2000, Windows XP, Mac OS X 10.3.6, and Linux (Debian). The results are always the same:
- The right column beginning with "Join the Campaign" is centered
- The main column's text is flush left, and mostly unreadable since half of it is on top of the navy blue left column
- Some HTML form text entry fields are too short vertically; I can type, but not see what I've typed
Do you use Firefox and have the same problems? Please take the quick poll below, and if you do have problems with the DNC website, send them polite feedback via
their email form.
Sadly, the RNC site (no, I won't link to it) works great with Firefox. I know it's hard to make HTML happy in every browser in the world, but Firefox is considered very standards-compliant, and is gaining market share. Let's help the DNC to make their site work for everyone.
Update [2005-3-7 16:3:1 by ubikkibu]: Well, clearly the vast majority of Firefox folk aren't having the problems I am. No, this wasn't a scam to get you to visit the DNC site--although it's a nice side benefit. I'll try to do more detailed tests on a variety of computers here at work, and post here if I can narrow down the issues. Thanks everyone for helping me, hope I didn't waste your time.
