A DNC lesson on how to alienate your most loyal supporters:
Dear Friend of Foolproof,
As many of you know, Governor Howard Dean was signed to appear at a benefit for Foolproof's American Voices on March 6. When he cancelled his
appearance 10 days before that event, we were assured that he would reschedule. We have now
learned that while he is speaking at a fund-raiser
for the Democratic National Committee in Seattle on April 13, he has denied us the opportunity to reschedule what was to be the fundraiser for this year's American Voices series.
Obviously this is a real disappointment and major setback to all of us. It has also left American Voices with a big financial problem, but we
persevere to bring diverse voices and viewpoints to the Seattle area. This is, however, extremely hard to do with the $20,000 in bills that this cancellation has left us with.
I mentioned this before, but hopefully this will reach someone at the DNC:
A wise organization does not crap on their biggest supporters.
Look DNC & Howard, you could have handled this so differently, but instead you arrogantly blew us off without even so much as a "We're really sorry". Come on Howard. This is really moronic. You may have good reasons to cancel, but there is no good reason to be rude.
This is really sad because with one move the DNC has undone a lot of good work by many of us in Seattle who spent countless hours doorbelling and cold calling people. We were some of the biggest Dean supporters.
