I received my Dear Friend letter today from Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi begging for money to fight BushCo in the mid-term elections. You can actually get a "fighting donkey" pin with a "gift" of $25 or more.
I am utterly disillusioned with the Democratic Party and their pathetic performance in the face of partisan wrongdoing in a state governed by Bush's brother that cost poor Al the 2000 election. Also deeply troubling is the embarrassing surrender by John Kerry in the face of election results that defy logic and mathematical probability.
The following is an open letter (that I did send) to Congresswoman Pelosi. The beginning of the letter was; "Do you really want to be told the truth?"
May 4, 2005
Dear Nancy,
"Do you really want to be told the truth?" As a matter of fact I do. However, I want the whole truth from both sides of this disgusting situation we refer to as "governing the nation and people of the United States". The brilliant Constitution we were graced with by minds that were much nobler and wiser than what we have on the political stage today, we no longer deserve as a people. As soon as the very first Congressional vote in history was made on the basis of enriching someone or some entity INSTEAD of what was in the best interest of our nation and its citizenry we were on the slippery slope to hell (i.e. what we are experiencing presently with BushCo).
I was a Democratic supporter last year ONLY because I was an "anybody but Bush" person. I donated money that I could scarcely afford because the thought of blatant evil as embodied by the likes of Dick Cheney, Richard Perle, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Karl Rove, Antonin Scalia and Richard Armitage, running this country was terrifying.
These monsters have been scheming, influencing, infiltrating positions of power since Richard Nixon was president awaiting their time which is NOW.
My problem with the Democratic Party, that I will no longer support, is that I have come to the realization that unfortunately they are one side of the same coin of corruption. We are a nation governed primarily by greedy soulless lawyers. (Insert disparaging lawyer joke here) It is built into the system by the sheer cost of running for office. Once someone accumulates or inherits wealth what is the next thing they want? Power, of course. They then use that power to further enrich themselves and gain more power.
My other problem with the Democratic Party is that I feel personally betrayed by the actions of both Al Gore and John Kerry. Al Gore caved "for the good of the country" in the face of blatant partisan wrongdoing and John Kerry simply surrendered without a fight. I am especially disheartened and we should all feel ashamed at the example of the Ukrainians and their spontaneous rejection of a rigged election led by the brave Victor Yushchenko. Why couldn't John Kerry be our Yushchenko? We only have one coin.
Respectfully,
