Several diaries are circulating about the Freeper Talking Points.
In answering one of them, I developed some counterstrike points, three for each Freep.
They are organizing as follows:
1. Grave - For wonk consumption
2. Casual - water-cooler conversation
3. Snark - For cheap shots. How I love them so.
Have at it, Blues. :)
The Democrats Are Engaging In Blatant Partisan Political Attacks.
1. Grave - If sabotaging American counterterrorist activities isn't worthy of bipartisan criticism, then what is?
2. Casual - Rove betrayed people fighting to keep WMD's out of the hands of terrorists.
3. Snark - And...endangering a critic's wife to try and shut him up isn't?
Karl Rove Discouraged A Reporter From Writing A False Story Based On A False Premise.
1. Grave - Rove called many reporters, asking them if they knew Joe Wilson's wife was a covert CIA operative...in the same way that a gossiper might ask if listeners were aware that someone was having an affair, and with far more damage to national security interests.
2. Casual - Rove spoke like someone with hot gossip, only the gossip happened to be perfectly true, and Rove knew it was so.
3. Snark - In fact, he was so concerned about the false story getting out, he called the entire DC press corps.
The False Premise Was Joe Wilson's Allegation That The Vice President Sent Him To Niger And That His Report Was Shown To The Vice President.
1. Grave - The administration's lies about Iraq's interest in Niger having nothing to do with Karl Rove's guilt or innocence.
2. Casual - Cheney's not important here. It was President Bush who spoke to the American people about the now-discredited 'findings' in Niger.
3. Snark - Sort of like that silly rumor that Nixon covered up the Watergate burglary, North dealt in drugs and guns with terrorists, yada yada.
The Senate Select Committee On Intelligence Confirmed That Rove Was Right And Wilson Was Wrong: The Vice President Didn't Send Wilson Anywhere.
1. Grave - Wilson could have gone to Cancun, and Karl Rove would still be under investigation for betraying American agents in the War on Terror.
2. Casual - Wilson was right about WMD claims being wrong, and Rove was wrong to out an American agent in the war on Terror.
3. Snark - The VP didn't send Moses down with the Ten Commandments, either. Your point?
Both The Senate Select Committee On Intelligence And The CIA Found Claims Wilson Has Made To Be Inaccurate.
1. Grave - The Select Committee's being wrong about WMD does not excuse Karl Rove exposing Americans fighting in the War on Terror.
2. Casual - Bush's people led us into a War with Iraq on bad evidence; It sounds like the pot calling the kettle black to me!
3. Snark - How's that WMD search in Iraq coming along? Class? Anyone? Bueller?
Karl Rove Has Fully Cooperated With This Investigation For More Than A Year And Has Permitted Any Reporter He Spoke With About Joe Wilson To Discuss Their Conversations.
1. Grave - Indeed, Karl Rove has spoken with Federal investigators in the Valerie Plame case. And given this new information, I suspect they are going to be speaking with him all over again.
2. Casual - I think Rove denied outing an American agent in the War on Terror. I think now that it's out that he did, he's in a bit of trouble.
3. Snark - And Robert Novak hasn't shut up ever since. And Judy Miller is free. And Cooper isn't being attacked by the GOP press corps.
Government Investigators Have Specifically Asked Every Witness In This Case, Including Karl Rove, Not To Discuss The Subject Matter Of The Investigation.
1. Grave - If so, then why was the White House press secretary discussing the substance of the case last summer, but warning off questions about it now?
2. Casual - The government was blabbing about the case last year; now they're clamming up. I think they're making up the rules as they go.
3. Snark - But it's okay for face guys and lawyers to chat it up.
Time Magazine Reporter Matt Cooper Called Karl Rove, Rove Didn't Call Cooper.
1. Grave - If Cooper initiated contact, why did Rove pass sensitive national security information to him?
2. Casual - If Cooper called Karl, then why is does Karl have a lawyer?
3. Snark - I hate cell phones. If the line gets dropped, you have to call back.
Cooper Told Rove He Called To Discuss Welfare Reform And Brought Up Wilson In Their Conversation.
1. Grave - Again, I must ask -- If this is true, why did Rove hand out sensitive national security information?
2. Casual - Even if that's so, people should know how to keep secrets, especially when lives are on the line.
3. Snark - Maybe Cooper, not Rove, was the smartest guy on the line that day.
Rove Said He Was Willing To Discuss The Wilson Situation Only If Cooper Promised Not To Use, In An Effort To Kill An Inaccurate Story.
1. Grave - This alone is grounds for suspension and review of Karl Rove's security clearance. You're not allowed to qualify when and how your interrogator uses sensitive national security information.
2. Casual - Maybe it's just me, but I thought 'top secret' meant 'top secret'. What's Rove talking to the press about secret agents for?
3. Snark - Good thing Cooper wasn't asking for missile launch codes. He might have gotten them!
