Earlier today, while reading through a certain controversial diary, the whole topic of banning came up and I noticed a post by my NYC buddy Lucid. He said, and I quote:
"Honestly, if Kos knew what I believe - what my read on what history & its future is - given posts of late, I am not welcome here."
He then listed some of his beliefs that he thinks would get him banned if he made an issue out of them. I can't disagree with him....certain, erm "conspiracy" theories are only allowed marginal mention here. I aint complaining really. This is Kos's site and that's not his deal. I get it.
Still, what I thought would be fun would be a diary in which we could list some of the beliefs that we think won't fly well here. Opinions that we feel would either get us labeled a troll or would at least garner a good half-dozen ratings of 2 or less.
This type of diary has been done before, I realize, but heck, it's a slow news week, why not another one tonight? My one request is that we all keep it civil. Pretend that when you read your co-poster's opinion that s/he is sitting across the table from you at a bar. So while gentle questioning or commenting is okay, downrating or YELLING or doing the electronic equivalent of throwing a beer in her/his face would really make my tent party feel like a total drag and as such, I may be forced to troll rate you (kidding!)
So there. I'm going to start with a small list of beliefs I carry that I feel like aren't exactly standard for this site:
- Election 2004: I'm not convinced on Ohio (though clearly there was a plan to diminish the black vote), but I have a gut feeling that the vote was messed with in Florida. As such, I think Nelson better watch his back.
- If young men and women were taught sex education in school and there was easy access to all forms of birth control and morning after pills (sans script) than I would be willing to scale back access to abortion to 4 months--however, I would only do that if the right to have an abortion during that timeframe was totally set in stone and could not be turned back by the Supreme Court.
- Lieberman is not as bad as people on this site make him out to be.
- I'd like to see Hillary occupy the Whitehouse in 2008.
That's enough for now, no?
Okay kids, your turn.
Big tent ya'll--love love!
(That last poll answer--just a reminder who the real opponent is....)
