If you are considering a donation to the
American Red Cross or to
Habitat For Humanity you can make your dollars (or Euros, or rubles, or whatever) work twice as hard.
Details below the fold.
The
Salesforce.com Foundation has pledged
US$250,000 in matching funds for all donations to the Red Cross (aid efforts) or Habitat For Humanity (rebuilding). Every $1 donated this way turns into $2 by the time it gets to the ARC or HFH coffers.
If you haven't already donated, please consider doing so today. Every dollar helps.

Want to make your money work even harder?
My company, a Silicon Valley software startup, is matching employee contributions up to a modest cap. (We're still a startup, after all.) We are also encouraging our staff to donate through a fund-matching site, namely the Salesforce.com Foundation.
Every dollar contributed by the employees at my company will, effectively, be tripled. I personally donated $150 tonight, which will grow to $450 by the time it gets to the ARC.
If your company has not announced a matching-funds program for Hurricane Katrina disaster assistance, please take a moment to suggest it to your management team. Enlist your co-workers to suggest the same thing. Remember: the way to get something is by asking.
There's donating, and then there's donating effectively. Make those dollars count!
