with my ultra-conservative, 30 year Naval/Vietnam veteran, Jane Fonda hating, brother-in-law. Over the past 2 years he has grumbled on occasion about Bush, who he voted for in 2000 and but not in 2004, primarily over Iraq. I knew he wasn't crazy about him, but boy has his attitude about this administration gone into high gear.
This is the guy who constantly made snide comments about Clinton during his administration and how he was ruining the country.
Well today he told me that he has had it with BushCo and that he wants to see BILL CLINTON run again for president! He now realizes what an amazing, articulate, intelligent, get-things-done-guy Clinton really was. My brother-in-law even brought up the environment issue. I was stunned!
I guess why I am throwing this conversation out there is . . . does anyone know for certain whether or not a 2 term president, who has taken an 8 year hiatus, can run again?
The conversation turned to Bill when he asked me if there was any Democrat on the horizon, who could pull us back from the brink. The fact that he specifically asked about a Democrat floored me too.
My brother-in-law went so far as to say he would go out and campaign for him! Totally blew me out of the water. I have known my brother-in-law for 35 years and would have never imagined him speaking like this. On one hand I feel vindicated, and on the other hand it scares the shit of me, that someone like him thinks BushCo is really this bad.
Is this a totally unreasonable idea?
