There are two stories about Ted Kennedy today, probably because of a presentation he did (will do?) for the National Press Club.
Anyway, the first, on CNN reports Kennedy as saying "Dems can't be Republican clones" and sticking to a progressive agenda. The story also writes "Referring to abortion, he said Democrats should not yield on a woman's right to choose, but should also acknowledge that "we are a better society when abortions are rare.""

The second story is on MSNBC, has Kennedy criticizing President Bush. The story writes:
""We have an administration that falsely hypes almost every issue as a crisis," the Massachusetts Democrat said in a speech prepared for delivery at the National Press Club. "They did it on Iraq, and they are doing it now on Social Security."
"They exploit the politics of fear and division, while ours is a politics of hope and unity," Kennedy said."

I think these stories are great news: stand up for what we believe in, don't get frightened by the Republican Noise Machine into turning mute when called on to state our beliefs (hello, calling the Fainthearted Faction...)
I also hope it's a sign that Democrats in both the House and Senate will get more vocal about their dissent.
As more Republicans turn on George Bush, they then have more opportunity to turn themselves into "reformers" even though they're part of the party in power.
I suggest each of you with a Democratic Congressperson and/or Senator send this article to your person and ask them where they stand on these issues and ask them to be more vocal.
