You may have seen Smallville, all about Clark Kent being played by an actor 10 years too old for the role who spends time with other teenagers who look 10 years too old for their roles. Tonite's ep was about Clark being brainwashed into getting married. They teased viewers about the 2 having sex but then they never did. Chloe, one of his friends, said she lost her cherry to a bow-tied Daily Planet reporter (Jimmy Olsen's ears are burning) and she regretted it. At the end, Chloe gave a long lecture on the horrors of teen sex. Then they gave a number to a hotline. I didn't get the number but it was a teen pregnancy group, so it may have been theocrats in disguise.
The most amusing part was when they had Lana Lang say that even though she's over 18 and she lived with a hot stud in Paris for 3 months, they never had sex. The message seemed to be "don't have sex unless you're married; sex is painful and wrong and sick if you are unmarried". Typical abstinence propaganda. And true network hypocrisy, because the episode was
very very very steamy, full of bare skin and close contact. Then they try to make viewers feel guilty for their wet panties and tented boxers by pushing that abstinence crap at the end.
If people want to save themselves for marriage, or a committed relationship, that's fine. But sex outside of marriage between 2 consenting adults is NOT wrong, is NOT sinful, and does NOT ruin your life. From my experience it actually improves your life, because you don't have as much baggage or expectation when you finally do get married or in a committed relationship.
I'm so sick of these networks caving in to the GOP subliminal messages even as they profit from near-pornography.
