In reaction to Kos's diary on Libby's "love letter" to Miller,
Knotlookin spots something hidden in plain sight: a coded message from a man about to be frog-marched.
What would you say to the woman who held your fate in her hands?
Just take a look at how badly written this is. Libby's no idiot. He's taking this single opportunity to send a message.
Want to see where this is headed before jumping below the fold? Just try Googling Chalabi + Aspen.
Here's Kos's excerpt from that
love letter:
[Libby] closed the letter [to Judy Miller] on this personal note (although he wasn't quite right on when autumn begins): "You went into jail in the summer. It is fall now. You will have stories to cover--Iraqi elections and suicide bombers, biological threats and the Iranian nuclear program. Out West, where you vacation, the aspens will already be turning. They turn in clusters, because their roots connect them. Come back to work---and life. Until then, you will remain in my thoughts and prayers."
I'm sorry that I can't crack the code -- but it's almost certainly there. All that talk about aspens and roots.
That's why it wasn't such a great leap to Google "chalabi + aspen" -- and come up with a link to the Aspen Institute in West Berlin. Perhaps that place "out West" where Judith like to "vacation."
Now try this link to a page at the Aspen Institute's site. I can't connect the dots -- but I'm pretty sure there's a constellation of hidden meaning in Libby's clunky allusion to aspens "out West".
Ahmed Chalabi (President, Iraqi National Congress)

The Aspen Roundtable "After Saddam Hussein - What's Next?" featured Ahmed Chalabi, President of the Iraqi National Congress, giving detailed information about the activities of his organization, and offering an outlook on Iraq's future after Saddam Hussein.
The Iraqi National Congress is an umbrella organization which represents most Iraqi opposition groups. Chalabi argued that Iraq could be liberated in the same way as Afghanistan has been: while the US provides air support, the INC would take the lead on the ground in a fight for liberation. It is his opinion that the people of Iraq would support such an intervention, as would the rest of the Arab world. Chalabi also gave insight into his notion of a post-Saddam strategy. He spoke of a kind of de-nazification program whereby Western governments, especially Germany, could provide help by setting up democratic structures and a civil society.
This spring, Chalabi is organizing a military conference in Washington in which over 200 current and former high-ranking Iraqi military officers will meet in an effort to boost the visibility of the INC.
Following the roundtable, Dr. Chalabi gave a press briefing to 40 German and international journalists.
Forgive me for posting this half-baked theory... but I know there are many smarter and better chefs in Kosville.
Can anyone add to this?
