Reading some AP headlines today, I came across this steaming pile of news:
Kennedy: I'll support Kerry in 2008 race

BOSTON (AP) -- Sen. Edward Kennedy said Wednesday he would back fellow Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008 - even if Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton also pursues a White House bid.
"If he runs, I would support him," Kennedy told The Associated Press in an interview at his Boston office.
..snip...
I don't know about all of you, but this is the scariest thing to me. All I can remember about 2004 was the way that the Dem party took the primary decision away from all of us. Now, hearing ruminations that they're in any way deciding who they'll support now is something that gets me really mad.
I'm sure that Kennedy was just responding to a reporter's blind question. However, this is just the kind of thing I hope we democrats can overcome in 2008. We need to get our primary system fixed so that the VOTERS can choose who's our best leader. Once that person is chosen, the big cats can jump behind that person and PUSH.
Maybe it's just me, but anything like this simply makes me shudder! :-P
