I was reared by Mormons, (it's slightly different from being reared by wolves,)though I've changed my philosophy a bit over the years.
There's an old Mormon prophecy that I've heard all my life. I'm not sure where it comes from, but it is very much a part of Mormon folklore. It goes like this:
"In the last days, the constitution of the United States of America will hang by a thread. In those days when civil liberties are threatened and the constitution seems as if it will die a horrible death, a man, holding the priesthood of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, will save that constitution and the freedoms that make America great."
Now I have to say, that every time a Mormon has been elected to the upper eschelons of public office, the Mormon membership speculates if this will be the man to "save" the constitution and the country. In my lifetime, people who have been considered for this mission have been Morris Udall, a Romney (I can't remember his first name) who was Governor of Michigan, Nute Romney, and Orrin Hatch. No Mormon ever considered Harry Reid, except maybe me, because he is a Democrat!
Nevertheless, whether you believe the prophecy or not, Harry is making the preliminary moves toward saving Ye Olde Constitution, in my opinion. Wouldn't it be a joy, if he, instead of the Mormon Republicans, saved the constitution and our civil rights?!
Stay tuned, and send Harry a few bucks if you can afford it.
