Like so many of the rest of you, I really enjoyed Georgia10's recent Fitzmas diary - most of all for the fact that it has inspired me to write
this diary you are now reading. A diary cunningly entitled:
The True Spirit of Fitzmas.
So what is the True Spirit of Fitzmas? It is Genuine Revolution, as the True Spirit of Christmas is the Essence of Giving. An actual exchange of gifts is only the outward form of an inward transformation... what we might call the Redemption of Self Interest. Think A Christmas Carol. Dickens had it right.
more below the fold.
As with gifts given for Christmas, Fitzmas indictments are merely symbolic of the genuine revolution that needs to occur. We should not be satisfied with the tokens, but instead see in them only reminders of the change that need be.
George W Bush must go. And more, the entire political culture of the United States needs to be liberated from the self-serving mentality that has grown rigidly pervasive, and pervasively rigid. We need a revolution.
I've no doubt that that's true. I only wonder what exactly it means. A couple days ago I posted a diary asking for people to share what one law they would change if they could. The scatter of perspectives seemed to me if they were illuminating a coherent figure. A national shadow, if you will. The True Spirit of Fitzmas is a light emerging within that shadow.
