I like Paul Hackett. I voted for Wulsin in the primary because her overall positions were closer to mine. When Hackett won, many of us in Democrarcy for Cincinnati ("DFA Cincy") advocated hard at DFA national for Hackett to get their endorsement. He did and that was huge in his money gathering ability.
I canvassed for Hackett and happily voted for him on August 2nd. BUT when there were significicant anomalies in the Clermont county vote, he went on vacation with his family rather than demand a recount.
Virtually every voting activist in the state wanted a recount at least in Clermont county (Warren, home of the homeland security lockdown last November looked a littel sketchy, too). DNC would have supported one; I know b/c I phoned them.
I contacted the campaign office about the questionable results. An attorney friend--one of the election contest attorneys--hand carried to Hackett's law office statistical analyses which cast doubt on the results.
But the fighting Dem sure wasn't fighting the week after the election.
It's time for candidates to learn it's about the voter and democracy, and stand and fight whenever there's even a hint of voting shenanigans. DeWine (the son) introduced legislation (HB 3) that will increase potential election problems.
If Hackett prevails in the primary and loses the election, will he stand and fight or again vacation while he looks for the next political opportunity?
