Earlier this year, the United Church of Christ launched the famous "bouncer" ads, which spoofed the exclusion practiced by some churches toward the gay community, racial minorities, those with disabilities, and others. The major networks refused to run the ads, and their refusal ended up giving the UCC additional backhanded publicity.
The UCC has a new ad, which they would like to launch in November and December. Until recently, fundraising had lagged, and it looked like the ads were going to be postponed well into 2006. However, the UCC's Local Church Ministries board gave a grant for $1 million. The UCC only needs another $250,000 in funding to launch the ads in 2005.
The UCC has been a prophetic and persistent voice in favor of gay rights, against the war in Iraq, and in favor of many issues of importance to the Kossack community. Please consider supporting the UCC in their efforts:
