Hat tip to the
inimitable Josh Marshall for this story.
Surely you remember all the shenanigans that Delay and his gang orchestrated in Texas to redraw the state's congressional districts to blatantly favor the Republicans. A little (and comical) unintended consequence of such action was that it meant, "watering down the GOP vote in any one district, including his own."
But wait, that is not it. His lawyers are now arguing that Travis county is not a fair location for the trial because Delay has been unfairly villified in the local press, thereby rendering it impossible for him to receive a fair trial. ABC News reports:
Defense attorneys argue that DeLay has been vilified in liberal Travis County, which was split into three different congressional districts as a result of a redistricting map DeLay engineered.
