I was looking through the election laws of North Carolina when I noticed something odd, sanctioned discrimination. We in the Tar heel state like to think that we are free to chose any leader we want, but it is not true. According to the rules, Atheists cannot hold office in North Carolina.
According to
Article VI Section 8:
"The following persons shall be disqualified for office: First, any person who shall deny the being of Almighty God."
I am not an Atheist, but I am a patriotic American. I think it is un-American to discriminate against people solely on the basis of their religion.
