Enough with the dalinaces about "we voted for the authority not the actual war" or the "we didn't have the complete intelligence" or the fabulous "everybody else thought he had WMD's". Or even the lovely "I was in support of regime change anyhow" hokum.
All of these pitiful excuses mean nothing to me without an apology that says "we should not have voted for this war". If, like Bob Kerrey on the Colbert Report, you want to call out Bush for never admitting he's wrong, you better start with the mea culpas right quick.
Let's go through some of these excuses:
"we voted for the authority, not the actual war"
Well then you must be genuinely naive, particularly for a politician. you're giving somebody a loaded gun and assuming they won't use it.
"we didn't have the complete intelligence"
Then maybe you shouldn't have voted "yes" on it without knowing the whole story
"Everybody else thought he had WMDs"
Only politicians seemed to think this. The weapons inspectors didn't think this. Most of the populace didn't think this. And please stop using the WMD term as I couldn't care less if he had 20 year old decomposed chemical & biological weapons. Did everybody think he had actual nuclear weapons program?
"I was in support of regime change anyhow"
Well you think you could have told us that? Maybe all of the fighting forces that are now in Iraq wouldn't have signed up for that. You think you could have spoken up and said something then?
