BREAKING FROM RAW STORY: "
National Security Adviser was Woodward's source, attorneys say"
Sources have identified Stephen Hadley as purportedly the original leaker of the identity of Valerie Plame.
National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley was the senior administration official who told Washington Post Assistant Managing Editor Bob Woodward that Valerie Plame Wilson was a covert CIA officer, attorneys close to the investigation and intelligence officials tell RAW STORY.
Testifying under oath Monday to Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald, Woodward recounted a casual conversation he had with Hadley, these sources say. Hadley did not return a call seeking comment.
The Bush Presidency is falling apart. I laughed when a week or so Tom Daschle
declared the Bush Presidency, "essentially over." I laughed partly because of the irony of the fact that our recently ousted Senate leader is sitting on a talk show declaring the President's tenure over. I laughed partly because I wanted it to be true. But the truth is, Bush's approval ratings weren't THAT low, and there was certainly a chance for a rebound.
Now, however, I am beginning to believe it really is. The problems keep mounting for the Bush cabal. They are being attacked on so many fronts now, that their propaganda spin can't keep up. This latest news about Woodward is no different. But the question is, when will they throw in the towel? When will they decide that this crew that is running the country is more damaging to the Republican party than it can endure?
UPDATE FROM RAW STORY: Correction: Due to an editing error, the first edition of this article incorrectly stated that Woodward was told Plame was covert. Woodward was only told she was a CIA analyst.
That should clarify some speculation.
