Kiddy Table over at C+J, but I have so few inspirations, and am so shameless, that I couldn't resist converting this to a diary.
Thanks to Dan Savage we all have a new, useful, appropriate, and meaningful referent when we use the word Santorum
But have we been avoiding spreading the wealth around as it were?
This fall has seen a great harvest of ripe Republicans, ready grist for the neologism mill. Herewith your humble servant presents a few suggestions.
Brown (FEE * ma) n. (idiomatic use: "to pull a brown") 1.to literally or figuratively (and publicly)step in a pile of horse dung. 2. to be seen to have risen far above your level of incompetency.
"Gee, Karl, did I just pull a brown on the Social Security initial-al-itive, or what?"
Chertoff (cher * TOFF) v. 1. to fall into a state of habitual inaction or torpor thereby revealing your true quality; to fail ignonimously due to same. (see also: bush v 1.)
"I would have done better on the debate, Karl, if I hadn't chertoffed all weekend."
Delay (duh * LAY) v. 1. to mash a digit or otherwise damage yourself when using a hammer improperly. "I delayed my thumb while clearing brush this summer." 2. n. typical object of shadenfreude. "I'd feel sorri-orrier about the Majority Leader, Dick, if he wasn't such a delay."
Frist (furst) v 1. to demonstrate transparent hypocrisy in public action thereby losing credibility while seeking short term political gain "If I went to Louisiana agin this weekend, Laura, would that be fristing?" 2. to shamelessly post a first message on a diary, solely for the purpose of being frist (you know who you are)
Mier (CRO * nee) n 1. a stooge, flunky, toady or household appliance of longstanding.
Rove (rof) n 1. stool or deposit in toilet that refuses to go down the drain.
"Could ya get the mier to come in here and see if she can get this rove down the drain?"
