I am 60 years old. I have never had a flu shot and have probably had the flu about 5 times in my life. I don't get the flu and I seldom get a cold.
More below the fold
My gut reaction to this whole thing is to just keep doing what I have been doing. One day about 8 years ago I had lunch with several friends of mine. It was a Friday and we were all planning to go to a Xmas party that night. I was feeling rather poorly -- like I was coming down with a cold. One of my friends handed me a packet called "Emer'gen-C." I dumped it into my ice tea. At about 3:00 p.m. I suddenly felt great. All cold/flu symptoms went away. I have been taking it on a regular basis ever since.
I do not get colds; I do not get the flu. So my question to all of you doctors out there: If and when a flu shot for the avian flu becomes available, should I get one, or should I just keep doing what is working?
