The threat of Power disruption from hurricanes, winter storms, or even a terrorist act has been making emergency management a key issue these days. While a terrorist gets the Press, the likelihood that a storm interrupts power for a day or even a week is much higher .
Is your home able to keep you comfortable for a week without power? Will it stay warm enough to keep pipes from freezing for 3 days or a week? When power goes it tests you and your home's ability to be as efficient as possible against the elements.
Preparedness, safety guidelines, and energy efficiency methods all contribute to keep us safe and our homes from freezing. Those same techniques can save us fuel dollars, especially with this year's fuel prices.
Mr. O'Connor will discuss what the city does and what each of us can do to weather storms. As fuel prices hit new highs and fuel scarcity may be an issue, energy conservation is more important than ever to both heat your home and to reduce cost. Preparing a home to survive an inevitable stretch of a power outage will both save you fuel dollar on the normal winter day and sustain you safely during those rare outages.
Join us for a night of tips to keep us safe, presented by Mr. O'Connor, who will share from his more than twenty years in emergency management for the city of Cambridge.
