H.Res 515, introduced by Dennis Kucinich and co-sponsored by about 150 other
Democrats, asks the White House to turn over documentation on the anticipated effects of climate change on the coastal regions. (text of the resolution after the flip)
The word I hear is that they are looking for information that suggests global warming may have contributed to the increased number of severe hurricanes this year. I don't know if Kucinich has reason to believe a particular report will be damaging, but even if it's a fishing expedition it would be nice to see the house take a stand contrary to W's wishes.
It may be worth calling on Chairman Boehlert or the other members of the committee to help move this one along.
Resolved, That the President of the United States is requested to provide to the House of Representatives, not later than 14 days after the date of adoption of this resolution, all documents (including minutes and memos) in his possession relating to the effects of climate change on the coastal regions of the United States produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Weather Service, the National Science Foundation, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the National Assessment Synthesis Team, and the US Geological Survey.
