The California Governor's race of 2006 is getting weirder by the minute. Of course everyone knows by now that
the California GOP is now courting Mel Gibson to provide a Primary challenge to Herr Gropenfuhrer. That's old news now.
What's new is that one of the potential Democratic Hollywood challengers has bowed out. Details below the fold.
Rob "Meathead" Reiner, zealous advocate for universal Preschool for California kids and rumored contender for the Democratic challenge to Ah-nuld has decided that
he won't run.
Reiner didn't do very well in matchups against the Gropenator, and apparently the wishes of his wife and kids sealed the deal.
The field now consists of progressive favorite Phil Angelides, Dem-come-lately Steve Westly, and possibly Warren "Bulworth" Beatty, whose appearences on LA TV to discuss the defeat of the Schwarzenegger propositions on election night looked an awful lot like he was campaigning. Will it be Bulworth vs. the Terminator? Or will it be Angelides vs. the Lethal Weapon? Or Bulworth vs. William Wallace? Or Angelides vs. Mr. Freeze? Who will be on the Governor's Mansion marquee when all this shakes out? Your guess is as good as mine.
