STICK TO A GOOD LIE

Condi Rice, Bush's attack dog, the Black Angel of Death, has been high-stepping around Europe lately with the fancy shoes that she bought as Katrina killed many people. I'm surprised she doesn't wear hip-height rubber boots to wade knee-deep in all the crap she is spreading on European leaders. But she finds time to lecture Syria and Iran and constantly threaten them because that was the neocons plan years ago. She also, following her Master, finds time to redefine words like Freedom, Liberty, Democracy, Sovereignty, Torture, Abuse. And she has mastered the fine art of deceit.
Both Condi and Emperor George have learned much in their attacks on the truth. Whether or not they learned something from Adolph Hitler as a result of reading some history or whether Karl Rove enlightened them is not in question. There is no doubt that Hitler's Big Lie technique is followed to the letter by both Condi and George.
Hitler's wise advice to would-be dictators was to find a good lie and stick to it, repeat it daily and deny anything that contradicts it. Both Condi and George are focused on target, and when one invents a good slogan or phrase, the other repeats it. This also applies to their entire cabinet and most of the Republican Senators.
It is however a mystery that Europeans, who have listened to skilled liars for centuries, still cannot seem to recognize when they are being lied to.
They profess to be satisfied with the simplest denial, or assertion of accidental and innocent transgressions, and close the case. A headline today tells the story: RICE DENIES TORTURE AND ABUSE. That seemed to be enough to vindicate the entire Bush administration.
Why would canny Germans, who had a list of some many violations of airspace by surreptitious flights of CIA planes, bearing illicit kidnap victims to be tortured in old Gulags, seem well satisfied with Condi's ingenious denials that such flights never occurred, or that kidnapping never has occurred, or her constant waffling regarding even the existence of secret jails?
Why would other sophisticated European leaders decide to accept without further investigation all denials of diplomatic atrocities? Why is the dirt being swept under the diplomatic rug which the Bush crew has dirtied since he took office?
Perhaps it is because both Condi and George have practiced a hypnotic stare, straight into the TV cameras, and without blinking tell the most egregious lies, over and over. They may convince a fundamentalist, who has been stupefied by generations of professional liars to accept any explanation from their leaders, but is everyone in the world gullible, or is the stupidity quotient of populations growing daily?
Condi and George and Dick and Karl have indeed learned that slander can avert wrath, that deceit usually works, that few people bother to check up on misinformation, or that people are inclined to follow authorities in high office thinking them incapable of deliberate distortions of truth.
After all, our democracy used to believe in moral and ethical behavior and that deliberate deception and mendacity are legitimate tools of governance. Once torture and abuse were considered unacceptable, and indefinite detentions without warrant would have been attacked by our judges, the US Supreme Court would have been horrified, but now only the British Supreme Court has come out strongly against any torture and abuse.
Our own Supreme Court is remarkably reticent to tackle the problems of indefinite detentions, kidnapping, lack of warrant, violations of civil rights, and similar illegalities.
Litmus tests for Judges are strongly denied by leaders but somehow if they are not the RIGHT kind of Christians and Republicans they are immediately rejected.
Even secretaries of religious tendencies nominated to the US Supreme Court, if they have been judged not to be religious ENOUGH, are ruthlessly rejected by the very people who campaigned hard against activist judges.
People, who vociferously requested that judges not make laws, seem to delight when religious judges have no difficulty in making such laws. People who most strongly state that they love democracy seem to be the most determined to destroy the separation of church and state in favor of a semi-fascist theocracy so they can impose whatever religion and Phalange politics they favor on the entire world.
Now George and his Republican sycophants have stated that they had a strategy for getting out of Iraq. The entire world knows they had no entrance strategy other than Shock and Awe by maximum violence, and that George and crew had no clue, or desire, to leave Iraq.
But the Hitlerian Big Lie prevails in the present administration. The Bush explanation, which varies from day to day, about reasons to invade a sovereign country that was NOT connected to 9/11, that Saddam had "intentions", satisfies most Bush followers. They prefer fantasy to fact, much like George has a firm grasp on fantasy.
Bush declarations that he could determine the destiny of Iraq, by constant repetition of "God told me to invade," or "Saddam was evil incarnate," could then, by using the same vicious evil tactics, kill thousands of Innocent Iraqis in order to seize one person and have his eager Christians think a new crusade was necessary to eradicate false beliefs and false gods and false books to substitute their own.
It may have been wrong for Saddam to kill, but it wasn't important enough for Bush to even count the number of Iraqi dead that he was personally responsible for causing. Here denials were very useful.
Bush uses patriotism and his "brave boys" to distract people from the absolute fact that we are now going to count 3,000 dead American soldiers, and 14,000, 15,000 and more maimed and crippled soldiers, but he declares constantly it "is worth it."
The fact that he went AWOL and did not wish to shed his own blood, should not distract from his patriotic desire to send American troops to immediately seize the oil wells, give the oil to Millennium, burn up tons of ammunition, seize bases and palaces, send in thousands of armed mercenaries, contractors and proselytizers, appoint by fiat his own nation of Quislings, and make 100 binding resolutions absolving himself from any wrong-doing.
Not even an apology for invading by deceit and outright lies was ever forthcoming because an egomaniacal sociopath cannot dim his legacy with bare truth.
So it is not surprising that even sophisticated Europeans seem to have accepted litanies of ingenious lies and denials, when our own Republican Senators, except for McCain on torture, fully accepted any explanation or denial of wrong-doing without any investigation but by applauding and glorifying a petulant, irascible, irresponsible, and lazy person.
Not a Napoleon, but he's OUR scoundrel. Case closed.
As far as the missing billion dollars is concerned, that lack of reconstruction, the constant destruction and death, well, that's a deep mystery, much like the fake news, the captive audiences, the deep secrets, the ultra-security, which are well-covered by Christmas carols, flashing Christmas trees, and fancy cards wishing everybody a Merry Christmas which the poor, disadvantaged, uninsured, sick, homeless, and indefinitely detained people probably echo.
