This morning on
Meet the Press, Sen. Graham (R-SC) denounced the content of the RNC's recent 'White Flag' ad which questions Democrats' patriotism calling them a defeaters and retreaters.
Russert: Waiving a white flag - is that appropriate?
Graham: The '06 election is going to come and go. Iraq will be still a problem after '06. I don't think it's appropriate.
...
I wish we would quit running ads against each other and try to find consensus.
Russert: So it is your opinion that you would prefer the Republican National Committee to pull that ad down?
Graham: Yes. I don't want to have a campaign about who is a patriot. I want to have a campaign that would unite the country, find consensus on Iraq and talk about our political differences in terms that make us stronger not weaker. We're going to drive a wedge among ourselves that will make the world less safe, including ourselves.
Graham later recanted his earlier remarks on an Al Qaeda/Hussein link and that Hussein was an immanent threat to the US. He finished the topic by saying that 'a ton of mistakes' have been made in Iraq. Graham also called out the Bush administration saying that 'no one should be above the law' vis-a-vis torture.
Oh, and David Brooks is an idiot.
