In a busy news climate like the one we're in it's not difficult to understand that many missed
this diary, posted by yours truly on Thursday of last week.
Today's diary is a reiteration of the previous diary with some additional information and update. I want to make Election 2006 work for us - it's so possible, but I need more volunteers.
Thursday's diary netted coverage of ten states:
- West Virginia - Detroit in Appalachia
- Virginia - VirginiaBelle
- Michigan - Hazzcon
- Ohio - YellowDogSammy
- Kansas - jeysiin
- South Carolina - RenaRF
- New York - Andrew C White
- Missouri - Devilstower
- New Mexico - Church Rock
- Pennsylvania - PAProgressive
I've finished South Carolina. Andrew finished New York. Hazzcon is closing in on Michigan. YellowDogSammy has posted an Ohio preview. The others are working away.
I am transferring the information to the dKosopedia. I realize that a lot of the reason people don't post more to the dKosopedia is because it requires a different kind of posting knowledge - how to use the wiki system. I'm comfortable with it at a rudimentary level, so I'll take on the task. If you want to see what South Carolina's entry looks like, you can go here:

I need your help
I'm sure all of you can do math - and, in seeing that ten states have been claimed by various users, you smartly arrived at the fact that 40 states remain unclaimed. I'm happy to pick up a few extra states - but I don't think I can get 40 done in any meaningful time period with any data quality at all. If you followed the Dkosopedia link above, you'll see that I'm not looking for analysis - a lot of folks were initially worried that there were others on dKos better suited to analysis - the problem is, they are so busy doing quality analysis that an overall picture of a state's races is too much to ask them to carry. That's where you come in.
Choose a state. Go back to the original diary that I linked to above (here it is again just to make things super-easy) and start with your chosen state's elections board site - I've linked to all 50 of them in the other diary - start grinding through the information. Let us know what races are up for re-election. Give us incumbent information and incumbent party where you can find it. Give us any valuable information on dates and/or deadlines that could be relevant (e.g., candidate filings, primaries, deadline for registration, etc.).
Write a diary about it. It doesn't have to be a great literary work of art - just the relevant information. This is very important: BE SURE you add the tag "Election 2006 dKosopedia" to your diary!! It's the only way I'll find it.
If you want to track the work being done, you can visit the tag's link:

All your friends are doing it...
"It was amazingly simple to compile the information and it took about two hours!!" ~RenaRF
"This is fun!" ~Hazzcon
Don't be left out. You've seen the states that are claimed - won't you claim one and add to the knowledge and power of this community???
