This is my challenge to any conservative lurkers here on DailyKos who happen to buy into this "War on Christmas" crap: prove the following story, or be silent.
My in-laws, who I get along with very well, told me they heard on Fox News that the Dallas suburb of Plano has banned red and green from its winter dance and other festivities. A Google search found that the usual suspects: WorldNet Daily, the Christian Broadcast Network, and some other Christian sites I was not familiar with, all atwitter.
There was nothing, however, regarding this story in the Dallas Morning News or the Plano Star Courier. The only thing I could find that even seems mostly related was a story on Plano ISD's standardized dress policy--students must wear khaki pants and red, white or blue shirts. My suspicion is that this policy has been distorted by the Christian right into yet another phony attack on Christmas.
If anyone can shed light on this, particularly if you are from the Plano area, I welcome your comments. But fair warning: I will not consider anything from a blatantly right-wing source as legitimate.
