I pose a very simple question.
Does anyone believe that if Condi Rice were a Democrat she'd still be getting away with that nonsense about not wanting to testify under oath in public before the 9/11 commission?
I don't think so.
Especially with all the different stories about what Bush knew and when he knew it.
If we (kerry and the Dems) really understood this street fight, we'd have been pounding Bush like a drum for months, about why his National security advisor is afraid to tell the truth. We would glady provide all the reasons why, viz: because he was warned and she's afraid to say so. It was not one of their priorities, yada yada, yada.
Rather than looking for every single opening as a chance to destroy Bush's credibility, we Dems don't want to go to such places. We want to be left alone to talk about Jobs & education, and health care. After all, THAT'S what the American people want us to talk about. What a joke!
It is this complete lack of understanding, this absence of guile, this desire to be cricket and not to get the so-called "opinion leaders" mad at us, that will leave us lagging behind.
IMO, in order to win, Kerry must give up this "swing voter" strategy, and keep his base enthused by constantly nuturing our diet of red meat. Give us our blood and the swingers will come along.
In the meantime Mr. Kerry, during the primaries when Dean was still a burr up your ass you promised us that if Bush went negative, "everything" would be on the table. So, where's the beef?
